The Slow Show

Last night, I had the joy of helping out in the filming of a Behind the Scenes look at The Slow Show's album making process.

Teaming up with Tracey Thornborrow, we filmed Fred Kindt from The Slow Show organising the recording of the brass section for their upcoming album. The brass was provided by the Glossop Brass Band.

We were at Blueprint Studios, in the room where Elbow produced their greatest hits, and the sound that was produced, warmed your soul. I do feel brass bands are severely underrated. Thankfully The Slow Show wanted them in the mix.

After the recordings were done, we moved onto individual band member interviews.

Personally, I can not wait to hear the finished album, which hopefully should be completed by the end of Summer.

SAFFRAN: Sale Sharks Cook Off at the Trafford Centre

All the action doesn't just take place on the pitch with Sale Sharks. It's also in the kitchen!

Last week, Tom Holmes and Rob Miller were at the Trafford Centre for a cook off at SAFFRAN.

SAFFRAN, is not only the new sponsor for Tom, they also promotes healthy eating, as all their dishes are 650 calories.

Most of the squad also came down to cheer on their team mates and to sample the menu.

Here is what happened. The smells were amazing...

Sale Sharks v Bath in the Aviva Premiership

Nick Macleod pre match warm up

Sale Sharks bagged a chilly win in the snow storm around Salford City Stadium last night.

The brave came to watch, as Sale clinched the 14-13 victory against the Bath side.

Tim Cocker and I were in the tunnel post match to grab a chat with try scorer Tom Brady and newly re-signed player, Marc Jones.

The Slow Show

Next week is shaping up nicely.

I will be helping out with the 'Making of' documentary of The Slow Show's new album.

They are a Manchester based group that recently got picked for Dermot O'Leary's BBC 2 Saturday Sessions CD.

Have a listen! My favourite is Mr Blue Tie.

LV Cup Final 2013

I went on the Sale Sharks Supporters Club Fun Bus down to Sixways to watch Sale Sharks v Harlequins in the LV Cup Final. Lots of pre match optimism was shown by the travelling support.

The match was a battle and the Sharks showed why they were in the final. Guts and effort were put into their performance. But sadly, it wasn't enough, and the no.2 in the Aviva Premiership, took the title.

All in all, I had a good day. Good banter and a good old sing song in the fan bar post match.

But now focus is back on the Aviva Premiership and the next home game against Bath, this Friday at Salford City Stadium.

New YouTube Layout for Sale Sharks

Youtube has giving itself a lick of paint and a new layout is now available for users.

You can now have a Channel Trailer, which introduces who you are. Straight on the case, I grabbed the Sale Sharks fellas for an introduction.

Sam James and Tom Cruse introduce Sale Sharks TV

The new layout is great, as if you have loads of videos in your collection, new subscribers are shown old videos through the "What to watch next" selection box. Thereby keeping all your content fresh and new.

LV Cup Final Sale Sharks v Harlequins

This weekend, is going to be yet another Epic Rugby Weekend.

Leaving aside the fact that its the Saturday is the last day of the 6 Nations, Sale Sharks are heading down to Sixways Stadium in Worcester to face Harlequins in the LV Cup Final.

And if all goes well, I have access all areas and will be the only videographer allowed near the players post game. Excited much? Hell yeah!

Now there is no denying that this will be a challenge as Harlequins are 2nd in the Aviva Premiership. But with the added confidence from beating Saracens (top of the Aviva) last Sunday, winning the LV Cup IS an achievable goal. Good Luck Sale!

Denton Vassell and Muscle-In

Editing done. Here is the finished article. Denton Vassell and Muscle-In

Denton Vassell

Yesterday I moseyed on up to Crossley House in Openshaw to meet the undefeated Welterweight Boxing Champion, Denton Vassell. I was there to film Denton skipping for a promotional video for new company, Muscle-In.

Denton's skipping skills are truly amazing. He made it look so easy. It when it looks easy that you just know it isn't. He told me that part of his warm up was a 45min continuous skip. I'm lucky to do 30 seconds!

I'm off to edit now. Keep an eye out for the finished video.

Weekend Ahead: Scotland v Wales

I am just a tad excited about my weekend ahead. I will be going to Edinburgh to watch Scotland v Wales at Murrayfield in the RBS 6 Nations. It's going to be an amazing match as it will determine who will be in the running to win the 6 Nations (if England slip at the last hurdle- doubt it).

Back in Manchester, however, I am gutted that I will be missing the LV Cup Semi Final Sale Sharks v Saracens. Yet I am confident that I shall be watching them in the final next week :)

Steve Diamond on Leicester Tigers v Sale Sharks

Lets be honest. Saturday 2nd March will not go down in history as the best day of rugby for Sale Sharks.

Welford Road was packed! And the sheer amount of noise produced by the Tigers fans was borderline terrifying. God knows what the guys on the pitch felt.
The noise was intense, yet the Sale Sharks fans that had made the journey down still could be heard. Very impressed with them.

The score and the chance of a bonus point slipped away from them by half time. Everyone ended the match in a sombre mood. 43-10 to Leicester Tigers.

This Sunday, Sale Sharks come close to winning some silverware as they play host to Saracens in the LV Cup Semi Final. Gutted I wont be there (train back from Edinburgh and the 6 Nations, isn't until 4pm).

Good Luck Sale! I look forward to going down to Worcester for the FINAL :)
