Sale Sharks New Kit

What a day!
Yesterday saw the reveal of the new kit for Sale Sharks. Reactions were 99.9999% positive.

The crowds that gathered, despite the rain, at Heywood Road, were delighted with the Sharks pack running out onto the field in the new kit.
They looked sharp and played sharp as well! Securing a 38-3 victory. It was classed as a friendly but there was eye gauging, handbags thrown and yellow cards given.

The season feels like it's finally started!

Dan Braid gets Sale Sharks Captaincy

The duty for steering the Sharks ship this season has been given to Kiwi, former All Black Dan Braid.
News broke on Tuesday and personally, I believe it to be a great choice. Dan is vocal and with his wealth of experience, I believe he will do well in the role. Dan came to the club late into last season, and his presence on the field was instantly felt. The Sharks survived, and this season is looking promising.

Saturday, sees the Sharks take on Leeds Carnegie in their second friendly of the preseason. It's happening at Heywood Road (KO 2pm). This time last year, Mark Cueto was celebrating his Testimonial, with a preseason friendly at Heywood Road against Glasgow Warriors. Unfortunately he wasn't able to play. This year however, he wont be missing out!

Team: Tom Arscott, Tom Brady, Andy Forsyth, Jonny Leota, Mark Cueto, Danny Cipriani, Will Cliff, Ross Harrison, Marc Jones, Vadim Cobilas, Johnathan Mills, Andrei Ostrikov, Mark Easter, Dan Braid Captain, James Gaskell

Replacements: Tommy Taylor, Aston Croall, Henry Thomas, Kirill Kulemin, Michael Paterson, David Seymour, Josh Beaumont, Dwayne Peel,
Reserves: Nick Macleod, Joe Ford, Sammy Tuitupou, Sam James

Also this Saturday, will also see the unveiling of the new 2013/14 kit! Keep an eye on the youtube channel, as I was there for the photo shoot!

Fylde 7 Sale Sharks 36

Last night was the first of three friendlies for the Sale Sharks before the Premiership starts in September.

They were away to Fylde who put up a spirited performance against a strong Sale Sharks side.

Scoring only 7 points, Fylde were able to defend their line well in the first half, only letting in one try. The second half was a different story. With 11 changes to the Sharks at half time, to give more of the lads some game time, Sale finished the game with a 29 point lead.

Frustrating at times, the game saw some sparks of the Sharks we all know and love.

Next friendly is against Leeds Carnegie at Heywood Road on the 17th. A day which will see three games at the grounds:

Ste Thomas and myself grabbed Bryan Redpath, Jonathan Mills and Phil Mackenzie for their reactions from the night's game.

Fylde Rugby v Sale Sharks

Today is the first of three pre season friendlies for the Sale Sharks.

The lads have spent the last couple of days on the Fylde coast, training at Rossall School. And from the Sale Sharks' instagram account, the school is stunning!

They play Fylde tonight at Woodlands, at 7.15pm. I'm looking forward to a full blown match.

Team List:
Tom Arscott, Phil McKenzie, Andy Forsyth, Sam Bedlow, Charlie Ingall, Joe Ford, Nathan Fowles, Aston Croall, Tommy Taylor, Vadim Cobilas, Jonathan Mills, Tom Holmes, Michael Paterson, David Seymour, Josh Beaumont
Replacements:
Marc Jones, Ross Harrison, Henry Thomas, Kirill Kulemin, Mark Easter, Dan Braid, James Gaskell, Will Cliff, Danny Cipriani, Sam James, Tom Brady, Andy Hughes

I got the lads chatting on Tuesday about their efforts in the J P Morgan 7s and this coming match.
